Pasture moves and plans
Wow! We accomplished a huge goal this week. We completed the fencing of about 7 acres on the north side of for creek mill rd. The cow, goats and LGDs are now on our side of the farm. This move is a big achievement for us. I have been working on this fencing for about a year. In March of 2022 I started the process by locating property corners and boundaries. I did need to hire surveyors for help on one of the lines. Once I had the property boundary done, I removed lots of privet and other plants from the proposed fecnlines. Next came the installation of many tall cedar posts. I cut these from family land down the road and hauled them to Holly hill. During the heat of the summer I dug 3 foot holes to anchor the posts. Friends and family both helped. This stage lasted a while and the community had lots of questions about all the cedar posts getting installed. Next came the bracing of the posts and the installation of gates. Once the gates were up I think people realized what was going on. During the fall I started running the wire for the high tensile electric fence. Again, friends and family helped. This all lead up to last week when we finished the project! This frees up the south side pasture and woods up for a new fencing layout. For the past week I have been designing a farm system that includes agritourism parking, tree layout and water management. I have included some pictures of the space.
